How Mitt Romney Can Stop Attacks On Tax Returns

comments

As Mitt Romney hits back on attacks by Democrats over not releasing his tax returns, he has found himself off message and on his heels, specifically sharply worded accusations from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

“The other day, I said that I'd been told by a very credible source that Mitt Romney hadn't paid taxes for 10 years. Gov. Romney got upset. But, you know what? I'm not backing down,” Reid wrote in an email to supporters. “I'm not backing down because, when you run for president, you should be an open book. I'm not backing down because Mitt Romney is hiding something — and the American people deserve to know what it is.”

Many, including some Democrats, found this accusation to be both unfounded and unnecessary. However, if the goal was to prompt a response from the Romney camp, then it was successful as they shot right back.

“Harry Reid really has to put up or shut up, all right?” Romney said when reporters asked about Reid's allegation. “So Harry, who are your sources? Let's have Harry explain who that is. And by the way, Harry, I understand what you're trying to do. You're trying to deflect the fact the jobs numbers are bad, that Americans are out of work, and you're trying to throw everything up on a screen that will grab attention away from the fact the policies of the White House haven't worked to put Americans to work.”

“Let me also say categorically, I have paid taxes every year, and a lot of taxes. A lot of taxes,” he said. “So Harry is simply wrong, and that's why I'm so anxious for him to give us the names of the people who have put this forward. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear the names are people from the White House or the Obama campaign, or who knows where they're coming from.”

One way the Mr. Romney can clear this up is by releasing several more years of tax returns, which as long as he refuses to do, will continue to be red meat for Democrats.

New GOP Super PAC Attacks Obama ‘For Racism Against White Folks’

A new Super PAC called FightBigotry.com is accusing Obama of racism against white people. Looking to attack with vigor, it intends to run an attack ad that it says will hit President Barack Obama for “his disturbing, yet crystal-clear pattern of tacitly defending black racism against white folks before and since being elected president.”

Headed up by Stephen Marks, a Republican opposition researcher, the public and press can view the ad at www.fightbigotry.com , Ozean Media will be handling our media buys.  Look for the group to rehash attacks over Reverend Wright, Louis Gates and Eric Holder.

"Our ad then shows a short clip of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, making the point that President Obama has failed to live up to Dr. King’s dream, since Dr. King would have never defended, nor would he have had anything to do with the likes of The New Black Panthers, Henry Louis Gates, Jeremiah Wright and Eric Holder.  They would have made Dr. King sick to his stomach, since he never supported racial hatred, and only preached racial love."

Porn Star Jenna Jameson Endorses Mitt Romney At Strip Club

Porn star Jenna Jameson chose a familiar stage to make her endorsement for the 2012 presidential election Thursday night. At a San Francisco strip club, the former adult actress and stage performer said she was ready for a Romney presidency.

"I'm very looking forward to a Republican being back in office," Jameson said at a San Francisco strip club. "When you're rich, you want a Republican in office."

Jameson, who presumably makes more than $250,000 a year, would be taxed more by letting the Bush Tax Cuts expire, while Romney is running on a platform that would continue tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

Chick-fil-A Kissing Protest Planned For Friday - Boycott Questioned By GOP

This Friday gay rights supporters are planning a "National Same-Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A."As part of the event, couples are encouraged to go to any one of the  restaurant's locations and take a photo or video of themselves kissing.

"Let's show Chick-fil-A thanks for their support of Love, Equality, and the Real Definition of Marriage! Invite your friends!" organizers said on its Facebook page. The event comes on the heels of "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" where many people showed up to support the fast food chains stance on traditional marriage.

Gay rights activists are also calling for support of KFC instead of Chick-fil-A as mounting controversy continues to stir over protesters right to boycott the fast food chain, which has many Conservatives crying foul. It should also be noted that, among many others, the following companies have been boycotted by Conservatives themselves for supporting gay rights:
  • JC Penney
  • DC Comics
  • Electronic Arts
  • Marvel Comics
  • The Lifetime Network
  • Toys R U
  • Oreos
  • Levi's

Lone Chick-fil-A Store Sponsors LGBT Pride Festival

New Hampshire’s only Chick-fil-A restaurant is going against the wishes of chicken chain founder Dan Cathy by pledging to co-sponsor an LGBT Pride Festival in the state. The support from franchise operator Anthony Piccola for the New Hampshire Pride Fest comes as the restaurant chain continues to be criticized for an executive's comments about gay marriage.

Piccola said Wednesday that the Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in its restaurants "is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect - regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender." It followed a statement he made last week that said the Nashua restaurant at the Pheasant Lane Mall has gay employees and serves gay customers "with honor, dignity and respect.

Like many other fast food chains, Chick-fil-A restaurants are independently owned and it's not yet clear what their policies, if any, are or how it will affect Piccola.

Chick-fil-A’s BrandIndex Drops 40 Percent

According to market research firm YouGov, Chick-fil-A’s BrandIndex score had fallen 40 percent nationally since Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press that his company was “guilty as charged” of funding groups that oppose marriage equality.

On July 16th, the day the Baptist Press published its Dan Cathy interview, Chick-Fil-A's Index score was 65, a very substantial 19 points above the Top National QSR  (Quick Serve Restaurants) Sector average score that day of 46.

Four days later, Chick-Fil-A had fallen to 47 score, three points below the Top National QSR Sector average score of 50. This past Wednesday, Chick-Fil-A had a 39 score compared to the Top National QSR Sector average score of 43.

It is also the first time Chick-Fil-A has sunk below the fast food consumer perception average of the top QSR restaurant chains.

Romney Spokesman Rick Gorka Tells Reporters "Kiss My Ass"

Wrapping up his overseas visit, the Romney campaign goes out with a bang. Butchering the first two legs of his tour by questioning England's ability to handle the Olympics and insulting the Palestinian people while using inaccurate numbers to describe Israel's GDP, why not go three for three.

Romney had just laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw’s Pilsudski Square, personally thanking and shaking hands with about 50 uniformed Polish soldiers who watched the silent ceremony. Then, in a gesture of gratitude, Romney pressed his hand to his heart and bowed his head.

As he walked back to his vehicle, he ignored reporters’ shouted questions. When a journalist noted that Romney has taken almost no questions from his traveling press corps throughout the foreign trip, Romney spokesman Rick Gorka retorted, “Kiss my ass.” Washington Post 7/31/2010

Gorka said it was a holy place and demanded reporters show some respect, he then went on to tell another reporter to "shove it." He later called the reporters to apologize. One campaign strategist then called the trip "a success."

If a tornado destroys your neighborhood, then yes, the tornado was a success.
